Number of pages:

ABSTRACT:
This 5 page report discusses the economics of prostitution in the United States and its implications in terms of decriminalization and acceptance. The practice of prostitution and prostitutes themselves are widely condemned yet widely tolerated. Both serve as part of a “sub-world” in which a careful system of social structure, roles, status and are inter-related in their own organization which is then linked to the larger society which is the primary or power group that has defined prostitution as deviant but an economic reality and, perhaps, economic necessity. Bibliography lists 6 sources.
